Clinical Source Policy

RN PocketPal’s clinical reference content — lab values, drip tables, IV compatibility, code cards, and similar reference material — is curated from publicly-available, established clinical sources and is reviewed by a Registered Nurse before being added to the app. It is provided as educational reference and is intentionally framed for clinical trainees and licensed nursing personnel familiar with the underlying clinical concepts.

What you must verify

  • Drug references.Always verify dosing, compatibility, indications, contraindications, and adverse effects against your facility’s approved drug library, the prescribing information, and a current clinical drug reference (e.g. Lexicomp, Micromedex, your hospital pharmacy’s formulary).
  • Facility policy.Local protocols (sepsis, stroke, code, transfusion, isolation, IV compatibility) take precedence over any reference tool. RN PocketPal shows generic algorithms; your facility’s policy is the source of truth at the bedside.
  • Critical-value flags.Lab critical-value thresholds vary by facility. RN PocketPal’s flags use widely-cited reference ranges. Confirm against your laboratory’s reported reference range before acting.
  • Rhythm Reader output. Verify with calipers, a 12-lead ECG when indicated, and your clinical judgment. See the medical disclaimer for detail.

Review cadence

Each clinical reference page in the app and on this site is stamped with a “Last reviewed” date. Reference content is reviewed at minimum annually, and ad hoc when published guidelines (e.g. AHA ACLS updates, sepsis bundle updates) materially change the recommendation. If you spot something out of date, please email hello@rnpocketpal.com.

What we will not include

  • Patient-facing dosing recommendations or self-administration guidance.
  • Diagnostic conclusions of any kind.
  • Off-label or experimental dosing without clear “not standard” framing.
  • Brand-specific drug recommendations or any content that could be construed as promotional.
