RN PocketPalRN PocketPal

A nurse brain sheet that survives a 12-hour shift.

Customizable digital report sheet for telemetry, med-surg, ICU, and ER nurses. Allergies, code status, isolation, drips, labs, tasks, handoff — all on your iPhone, none of it in the cloud.

By hour 9, your paper brain sheet is half-soaked, missing the morning labs you wrote in the margin, and you’re trying to remember which patient is on contact precautions from a smudged note. The next shift gets the worst of it — handoff is only as clean as the brain sheet that backs it.

RN PocketPal’s brain sheet is built around the parts that actually matter on a shift: what kills you when you forget it.

What RN PocketPal does

  • Per-patient pages with allergies, code status, isolation, diagnoses, history, active meds, IV access & drips, recent labs (with critical-value flags), and free-text notes.
  • Telemetry, med-surg, ICU, and ER variants. Save your own templates. Long-press any row to edit.
  • Critical-value flags on labs surface in red so you don’t miss a K of 6.2 buried in a panel.
  • Patient names and room numbers stay on your iPhone. They’re yours. They never sync to our servers without an explicit opt-in.
  • Handoff view groups patients by acuity and pending tasks for a clean SBAR-friendly report.

Who it’s for

Built for bedside RNs and LPNs across telemetry, step-down, med-surg, ICU, and ED. Also works as a clinical-day brain sheet for nursing students — see the student clinical variant.

Educational reference only. Not a medical device. Verify with clinical judgment, facility policy, and primary sources. Read the full disclaimer.

Frequently asked questions

Is my patient information stored in the cloud?
No. Patient names, room numbers, and brain-sheet contents are stored locally on your iPhone (in encrypted storage). RN PocketPal does not transmit PHI to any server unless you explicitly opt in to a future sync feature, and that would only happen with a HIPAA BAA in place.
Can I customize the layout?
Yes. Each variant (telemetry, med-surg, ICU, ER) ships with sensible defaults, and you can toggle rows on or off, reorder sections, and save your own template.
What happens if I lose my phone?
Brain-sheet data is local-only by default. If you lose your phone, the data is gone with it (which is the right answer for PHI). If we ship optional iCloud sync in v1.5, it will be opt-in and end-to-end encrypted.
Does the brain sheet work offline?
Yes. The brain sheet, calculators, and reference tools all work fully offline. Hospital Wi-Fi is unreliable; the app is designed for that.
Can I print my brain sheet?
You can export a printable PDF view for shift handoff. The PDF is generated on-device — it never touches our servers.
