Accessibility statement

Nurses work every shift with a wide range of abilities, devices, and conditions — bright hallways, gloved hands, tired eyes, screen readers. We build RN PocketPal to be usable by everyone, and we hold ourselves to a published standard rather than a promise.

Target: WCAG 2.1 Level AA.

We measure this website and the RN PocketPal apps against the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1, Level AA, and are moving toward WCAG 2.2. We are partially conformant: most of the standard is met, and the specific gaps we know about are listed below, with fixes in progress.

What we build in

Accessibility features that ship across the website and apps today:

  • Screen-reader support — semantic headings and landmarks, a skip-to-content link, labeled navigation, and accessible names on icon-only controls. The apps ship VoiceOver (iOS) and TalkBack (Android) labels.
  • Keyboard operable — interactive elements are reachable and usable without a mouse, with a visible focus indicator.
  • Readable and resizable — pinch-zoom and text scaling are never disabled; the layout reflows to a single column on small screens.
  • Reduced motion — animations are minimized or removed when your system requests “reduce motion.”
  • Touch targets — primary controls in the apps meet the 44×44 pt minimum.
  • Meaningful alternatives — images carry descriptive text, and decorative graphics are hidden from assistive technology.

Known limitations (being fixed)

In the spirit of being honest rather than making a blanket “fully compliant” claim, here is what we know is not yet at AA, with remediation underway:

  • Color contrast — a small number of secondary text and accent-color combinations are being darkened to meet the 4.5:1 contrast ratio.
  • Form labels & errors — some form fields are moving from placeholder-only labels to persistent visible labels, with validation errors tied programmatically to the field.
  • Mobile navigation — a keyboard-operable mobile menu is being added; in the meantime, all pages are reachable from the footer navigation.

If any of these blocks you today, contact us (below) and we will get you the information or an accessible alternative right away.

Report a problem or request an alternative

If you hit an accessibility barrier anywhere in RN PocketPal — the website, the apps, or a printable — please tell us. We treat accessibility reports as priority issues.

Please include the page or screen, what you were trying to do, and the assistive technology or setting you use (for example, VoiceOver, TalkBack, keyboard only, browser zoom). We aim to acknowledge accessibility reports within 2 business days and, where we can’t fix an issue immediately, to provide the content in an accessible form on request.

Scope, standard, and how we test

This statement covers rnpocketpal.com and the RN PocketPal iOS, Android, and web apps. Our conformance target is WCAG 2.1 Level AA (progressing to 2.2). We assess with a combination of automated tooling, manual keyboard and screen-reader testing, and review during development. Because the product changes frequently, this is a living document — the “known limitations” list is updated as issues are found and fixed.
