RN PocketPalRN PocketPal

The clinical-day prep app you wished existed in nursing school.

A student-friendly brain sheet, SBAR builder, care-plan scaffolding, and lab review — designed for the night before clinical, not for the floor.

Clinical the next morning. Two patients, four diagnoses each, six meds you’ve never seen, and a care plan due before you arrive. The instructor wants pathophys, rationale, and three nursing diagnoses. The textbook isn’t the right shape.

RN PocketPal’s clinical-day prep tools are shaped like the assignment your instructor actually grades.

What RN PocketPal does

  • Student-clinical brain sheet variant with pathophys notes, med rationale fields, and SBAR prompts.
  • SBAR builder that walks you through Situation, Background, Assessment, Recommendation — so report doesn’t feel like an oral exam.
  • Care-plan scaffolding aligned with NANDA-style diagnoses and goal/intervention structure.
  • Lab values reference with critical-value flags and student-friendly framing.
  • Privacy-first by default. Anything you write about a patient stays on your iPhone.

Who it’s for

Built for nursing students in pre-licensure programs (ADN, BSN, accelerated BSN) and their first two years on the floor. Also useful for LPN/LVN students and student CNAs in their respective clinical rotations.

Educational reference only. Not a medical device. Verify with clinical judgment, facility policy, and primary sources. Read the full disclaimer.

Frequently asked questions

Will this replace my instructor’s care plan template?
No — it scaffolds the structure, but you fill in the clinical reasoning. Your instructor’s template is the source of truth for grading. Use the app to organize your prep, then transcribe into whatever format your program requires.
How does this protect patient information?
Everything you write — patient initials, brain-sheet contents, care-plan drafts — stays on your iPhone in encrypted local storage. RN PocketPal does not transmit student-entered patient information to any server.
Is this just for new students or also for the NCLEX?
It’s a clinical-prep tool, not an NCLEX prep tool. We focus on what you actually do the night before clinical and the morning of. NCLEX prep is a different product category that we deliberately don’t compete in.
Does it work on iPad?
iPhone in v1.0. iPad support is on the roadmap for v1.5 with the multi-device sync feature.
Can I keep using it after I graduate?
Yes. The role selector in your profile flips from “Student RN” to “RN” with one tap, and the brain sheet, calculators, and Rhythm Reader are waiting for your first shift on the floor.
